2017 – A Year of Reaching Out

So reach out and welcome one another to God’s glory. Jesus did it; now you do it!
Romans 15:7 (The Message)

The year stretches out ahead of us. What does it hold in store? What can we do with the opportunities and challenges that will come our way?
For ourselves
What steps can we take to strengthen ourselves spiritually?
Could we be spending more time in prayer? What can we do to increase the amount of time we spend praying?
Can we do more to read the Bible in a systematic and thoughtful way in 2017?
For us a church
Can we spend more time going deeper and learning more together? What do we need to do to equip each other for the challenges of life?
“Reaching out” – sounds good, what does that mean for us as God’s people. Do we need to be bolder, more strategic, more sensitive, more engaging? More…?
2017 holds a whole lot of big opportunities for us as a church. If we are to make the most of who we are in Christ we need to be committed, bold. If we believe that God and His church that we are part of are important we need to be committed. The danger otherwise is that we are fall into the same mediocre category as the church at Laodicea whom the risen Jesus addresses in Revelation 3:15-16:-

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

God bless

Gerard
